Donate your pre-loved pram to a family in need
The Prams for Good campaign exists to take your pre-loved pushchair and send it to families in need across the UK and overseas.
Goods for Good, the campaign charity partner, works with local charities to re-home your pram with a family who needs your help. We are talking about families who cannot afford heating and to put food on the table.
Why are prams & pushchairs such an essential item for a family?
Not having access to a suitable pushchair means many parents are unable to get outside and access much-needed fresh air and headspace. This can affect their mental health and wellbeing often leaving them unable to cope with parenting or to develop important supportive social networks.
The cost of a pram is unattainable for millions of families in the UK and yet so many unwanted prams, in good condition, end up in landfill – or stuck in the loft. The situation has been made worse by the pandemic, where people have lost their jobs, businesses or are furloughed.
Refugees and asylum seekers who arrive in the UK in just the clothes they stand up in, also need support for their babies and children.
Our ultimate aims are to:
To help poverty-stricken families
We aim to help poverty-stricken families both in the UK and across the globe. The average spend on a new pushchair is £340.32 (Which.co.uk) – unfortunately, a cost well beyond the reach of many UK families, living in poverty, who can’t even afford food and clothing, especially now.
improve physical, mental and emotional health
By giving parents-in-need a pram they can use to get outdoors with their child every day, we hope to help address the current burgeoning mental health crisis, by giving families the opportunity to get outside and into the fresh air
work towards a greener planet
We aim to work towards a greener planet - so many prams are dumped, and we aim to reduce landfill by recycling the prams that have life in them yet and can be given to a good home.
